Plans are in the works for this year's reunion. Letters will be sent out within a few weeks.
As of now, the reunion will be Memorial Day weekend in Johnston County. Because of the economy (or in spite of), the plans are going to be less structured. These are the TENTATIVE plans:
Those that can make it on Friday night can let Vernice know and then meet at a restaurant where you can either order off the menu or have the buffet. It won't be at Holt's Lake this year but the place will reserve an area so you still need to let Vernice know if you will be there.
The two meals are planned to happen at Vernice and Leland's as in the past. A Saturday night cookout is planned. The Sunday meal will have the main dishes coming from a local place so no one has to worry about bringing food that will spoil.
I don't know if the plans are for everyone to make their own reservations or if someone is going to be in charge of getting a group rate. MY opinion is to choose a hotel and let everyone deal with it themselves. Two reasons: 1- Most people are unsure of how long they will want to be there because of time, money and other things that get in the way (aka called life) and 2 - we as a group are horrible about the whole RSVP thing and it will drive whoever is in charge crazy. JMO but hey! I've been the one in charge before!!!
OK, that's all for now. Using this blog would be an easy way for others to put their 2 cents in and put pictures of last year or just keep in touch. Anyone can post a comment but in order to make a blog entry I have to enter you as an author. Just email me and I'll take care of it.
